Lodi Court to Re-Open

It's been almost 2 years since the Lodi court, within San Joaquin County, has been open to the public. Now it prepares to re-open, as the story reads in the LodiNews.com:

After nearly two years of being shuttered, the Lodi branch of the San Joaquin County Superior Court will reopen in 2025.

Presiding Judge Gus Barrera announced on Monday that the Lodi branch, located at 217 W. Elm St., will reopen on Monday, Feb. 3rd. (2025)

“This marks a significant step in our continued efforts to serve the Lodi community and ensure the accessibility of justice in north county,” Barrera said in a letter to Lodi Mayor Lisa Craig-Hensley, Police Chief Rick Garcia and City Manager Scott Carney.

Criminal arraignments, re-trial conferences and motions for misdemeanors and out-of-custody matters will be heard at the branch, as well as traffic, city code violation and small claims cases.

Limited civil hearings, such as harassment and name changes will also be heard, as well as probate hearings, officials said.

The court temporarily closed the Lodi branch on March 1, 2023, citing a shortage of judges due to retirements.
